Refund Policy

Sterling is sold by Arch Capital Inc., an Ontario, Canada corporation. This policy explains how refunds work when you buy Sterling directly from us.

1. 14-day refund window

If Sterling doesn't work for you, request a refund within 14 days of your purchase and we'll process it, no questions asked.

Email [email protected] with the email address you used at checkout and a brief note. That's the whole process.

2. How refunds are processed

Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank or card issuer. You'll receive an email confirmation from Stripe once the refund has been sent.

3. After 14 days

After the 14-day window, purchases are final.

If Sterling has a bug that makes it unusable on your hardware, contact us anyway — we handle those case by case and stand behind the product even past the refund window.

4. License deactivation and data on refund

When your refund is processed, your Sterling license key is deactivated. Sterling will no longer activate on your computers, and any active Sterling processes will stop being usable. You are responsible for uninstalling Sterling from every device where you installed it.

Because Sterling is a local-first product, all of your Sterling data — memories, conversation history, settings, connected-account tokens, and any other files Sterling writes to %USERPROFILE%\.sterling\ — lives on your own computer(s). Arch Capital Inc. does not back up, preserve, or restore this data. If you refund, that data is yours to handle. If you uninstall Sterling and later repurchase, you will receive a new license key and Sterling will start fresh. Nothing from a refunded installation is recovered or ported by Arch Capital Inc.

We recommend exporting anything you want to keep before requesting a refund.

5. Disputes

If you have a billing dispute, please contact us first before filing a chargeback — most issues resolve quickly by email.

6. Consumer-protection rights

This refund policy is in addition to, and does not replace or limit, any rights you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, or equivalent legislation in your home province. See our Terms of Service for more detail.
