Glance picks by itself: questions get the answer, words get a short meaning, and long text gets a short summary.

  • Control + Command + J: Mac

macOS 14 or newer, on a Mac with an Apple chip.

  • Windows (beta)

    Coming next week.

How it works.

  1. HighlightSelect any text, in any app.
  2. Press Control + Command + JWindows (beta) is coming next week.
  3. Read the answerA short answer appears right where you’re working.

Answers come from an AI on your computer, so what you highlight stays on it. Glance goes online to check your licence, to check for updates (Mac), to download its AI model once (from Hugging Face, if your Mac doesn’t have Apple’s), and to look things up on the web when you ask it to. If you choose your own Claude, OpenAI or Gemini key, what you highlight goes to that company to be answered.
