Roadmap

Sterling is a solo-built product from Arch Capital Inc. What follows is the honest plan — what's in v1.0 today, and where Sterling is going. This roadmap is a direction, not a contract. Features ship when they're ready.

v1.0 — What Sterling does today

Your local AI butler for Windows.

  • Voice-first conversation — speak, Sterling listens, Sterling responds. Stop button to interrupt anytime.
  • Gmail integration — read, search, count unread, send (real Google API)
  • Google Calendar— today's events, this week, next event, create events
  • Spotify control — play, pause, skip, volume, play specific tracks
  • Screen reading — OCR anything on screen, read aloud
  • App control — open apps, manage windows, inject keyboard/mouse
  • 78 tools total — time, weather, web search, file operations, system info, memory, and more
  • Runs entirely on your hardware — your data never leaves your PC
  • Single license, up to 3 computers — household and work covered

v1.1 — Polish and power (first free update)

Deeper, faster, more reliable.

  • Outlook integration — email and calendar for business users (Microsoft 365 accounts)
  • Wake word— say "Hey Sterling" hands-free, no hotkey required
  • Volume control rewrite — rock-solid audio control on every Windows 11 build
  • Tool personality refinement — Sterling's butler voice tuned per your preferences
  • Performance pass — faster cold starts, lower idle VRAM, GPU-accelerated TTS

v1.2 — Sterling Orchestra (beta)

Your devices, working together.

  • Multi-device coordination — Sterling on your 3 licensed computers can see each other on your local network
  • Task handoff — start a task on your laptop, finish it on your desktop
  • Shared memory pool — what you told Sterling on one device is available on the others
  • Load-aware routing — heavy tasks automatically route to the device with the most available compute
  • Phone as a conductor — iOS/Android companion app to command any of your devices without being at them

v2.0 — Sterling Orchestra (full release)

Treat your hardware like one giant computer.

  • Distributed inference — pool GPU memory across devices for models that don't fit on any single machine
  • Wake-on-LAN command — "Sterling, wake my PC and draft this email" from your phone with every device off
  • Cross-device chaining — "On laptop 1 pull my calendar, on PC prep the Stripe report, then call mom" in a single command
  • Free companion devices — your phone doesn't count against your license
  • Device slots — purchase additional computer slots as your setup grows; slots can be banked and used later

v2.5+— What we're thinking about

Open questions we'll answer with paying customers.

  • Third-party device integration (smart home, Alexa, Google Home, smart TVs)
  • Plugin system for developers to add custom tools
  • Enterprise tier with SSO, audit logs, centralized deployment
  • Linux and macOS versions (Windows is day one)
  • Fine-tuned Sterling persona per customer
  • Memory portability across devices via encrypted user-controlled backup

Updates are automatic and included

Sterling updates itself in the background. When a new version is available, Sterling downloads it and applies it on next restart. Your memories, settings, connected accounts, and everything else you've built up are preserved across every update. You never lose your context.

Every version is included with your active Sterling subscription, and Founder’s Edition customers receive every update for the lifetime of the product. No paid upgrades, no version-locked features.
